Experience one of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets in the world at Assekrem, high in the Hoggar Mountains of southern Algeria. This 5-day adventure combines breathtaking desert landscapes, prehistoric rock engravings, and encounters with Tuareg culture. Explore valleys, mountain refuges, oases, and waterfalls, all while enjoying the magical Sahara skies filled with stars. The highlight of the tour is the spiritual Ermitage of Père de Foucauld, perched at 2,780 meters, where the silence of the Sahara meets its most majestic views.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Tamanrasset & Illamane

• Arrival
• Night flights from Algiers: 00:25, 01:25, or 02:25
• Morning flight (twice a week): 06:00 from Algiers, arriving at 08:25
• Transfer & Rest:
• Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for rest and breakfast (depending on your flight time).
• Tour Start : 09:00
• Activities :
• Depart to Tarhnannet to admire fascinating prehistoric rock engravings.
• Lunch : Tisalatin.
• Continue to Illamane for your first desert overnight stay.
• Overnight : Illamane

Day 2 – Oued Afilal & Assekrem Refuge

• Morning :
• Breakfast at Illamane
• Journey to the picturesque valley of Oued Afilal
• Lunch : Oued Afilal
• Afternoon & Evening :
• Ascend to Assekrem Refuge (2,680 m).
• Witness a magical sunset over the Sahara.
• Optional: Early preparation for sunrise at Père de Foucauld’s Ermitage (2,780 m) the next morning.
• Overnight : Assekrem Refuge.

Day 3 – Tahifet & Desert Night

• Morning & Afternoon:
• Explore Tahifet and Tanget, enjoy dramatic mountain scenery and hidden gueltas (natural pools).
• Evening :
• Traditional desert camp under the stars.
• Overnight : Camping.

Day 4 – Tamekrest Waterfall & Tamanrasset Visit

• Morning :
• Breakfast at the desert camp.
• Return to Tamanrasset.
• Lunch : Stop at Tamekrest Cascade
• Afternoon & Evening :
• Short city tour of Tamanrasset.
• Visit the lively Souk Tafessit.
• Enjoy a traditional dinner.
